Waltzing Matilda/DM Buzz Wednesday April 14th, 2010 11:32:46 PM The group rejoins for breakfast. Bardamion sits with his neatly trimmed black hair and clear green eyes, easily in a chair reading by some type of light spell as there are no lamps going at this time. Vauhwyt brags on her dream, but does she not remember, her spiked chain is not in her presence and further more, when she looks for the gift from Wardd, it is not found either. Malgant sets down a plan that would likely raise the ire of all in the establishment and it will likely cause some bloodshed and even that discussion does not rouse the tall elf from taking a page he holds and lying it face down on the table with others as he continues with the next. Aztyr doesn't really want to get involved in politics, but she will back up her friends in whatever they decide. Whysper is again off in a corner listening and watching her surroundings. She doesn't share her dream for some reason. Vorelle in a steady and clear voice uses sarcasm to help her old friend feel better. Valanthe greeted everyone she knew, including pets and introduces herself to the new people, then gets herself some food, which is satisfying if not tasty. Appolo feels as though, there are some springs wound just a bit to tight and sometimes, a safe life isn't worth living.
Bardamion seems to not notice the group until Vauhwyt addresses him directly. He looks at her over the top of the papers he is reading, then sets them down, using his finger tips to make sure they are all together and squared, with no edges sticking out past others. Just a few seconds pass, but this man has some way of making mere seconds feel as though he is pulling your soul from out of your skin. His face emotionless, he doesn't really recognize the apology, but simply says, "Matilda is no trophy, but a reminder to her enemies. She was placed there in honor of her prowess in battle, when she alone... with Daphenella, so many years ago staged a massive rescue mission to return over two hundred centaur prisoners of war."
Bardamion reaches for the small glass of wine and takes a sip, again, drawing out the seconds into what appears to be hours.
"The anchor was stuck in the harbor and the minotaur militia was closing in with their ferries. Matilda jumped overboard to cut the rope, stranding herself on the shore where she killed over thirty minotaurs before they finally killed her, honorably in battle. Her life was taken so that Daphenella could maintain her identity as well as save the prisoners."
Bardamion looks at each person in turn, his eyes penetrating like an awl through cloth. "Daphenella has only once went to Gargul to petition a soul. Matilda refused to return, saying she couldn't have died a better way a second time. Matilda in jest told Daphenella before going to a part of the Realm of Shadows she most nobly deserves. "I want them to remember me forever! Let them remember centaurs will always be their equal, if not greater."
He reaches again for the unread papers and finishes with some last words before he goes back to reading. "Daphenella was soon after the proprietor of this establishment and learned, that a seed does not grow and bloom over night presenting a flower in the morning and neither do a people change over night, but those with time on their hands have learned to be like a river and carve slowly over time, a more good path for others to follow."
