Atrea's motivation
Atrea is evil and want to be in charge. She believes she can restore the house to greater power by returning to the old way of drow. Atrea believes her mother (Sirarlith – deceased) should have chosen her as Matriarch as was tradition, and that her younger sister is soft and has no right to be Matriarch. Failing to take over House Bralfah, Atrea has gathered some 25 followers to her which she calls “House Atrea”.
Recently Atrea has acquired an artifact “Triial Web” which now controls her. It serves Triial a 1st age drow god of the dark (now dead?). draws spiders to it and can turn drow into Driders.

It is evil and intelligent and draws spiders to it and has some ability to control the spiders. It is a web carved out of ebony the area around it is treated as though an unhallow spell had been cast with the web as the touched point of origin with the added benefits that it provides all spiders around it with sustenance and unnatural long life. Drow who spend too much time in its area of effect can transform into Driders.
