The Forged: Story Summary
A group of adventurers is brought together, with the opportunity to become heroes and obtain honor. This is the chronicle of their journey.
- Our story recap begins well after the start of The Forged
Both dwarves and elves attend this festival near the place where the Scab and Culverwood meet. There they celebrate the Demon/Fae that for centuries protected the surface from the main Underdark entrance, before the fall of the Drow. This festival lasts a week and has been responsible more than once for extending the peace between dwarf and elf. That doesn't mean that all is peace and love at the festival. In fact, they can't ever agree on the name of the festival. The elves call it "The Wood Festival." The gnomes and halflings who are not even invited call it "The Festival of Stone and Wood" (gnomes) and "The Festival of Wood and Stone" (halflings). Of course, the gnomes and halflings come to the festival anyway. The halflings always say, "I'm with the elves," while the gnomes say, "I'm with the dwarves." Needless to say, a great time is held by all, if by a great time you mean arguing and bickering until you are literally blue in the face, which has happened. En route to the Stone Festival, the party is attacked at night by a group of humans bent on stealing the message. they are wholly unsuccessful.
- The Grim Guard continue on and meet Ironbane at the festival, delivering the message and thus fall into the trap, but was able to sort it out to the satisfaction of Clan Lord Fifur Ironbane. So much to the point that the Grim Guard were proclaimed honored heroes of the Stone Festival and allies true of Clan Ironbane. The Grim Guard spend a few final days at the Stone Festival after returning triumphant from the mines and killing the Beblith, celebrating and being celebrated. Ironbane has had others looking for his daughter since she was taken. With the Abyssal presence removed from the immediate area, his diviners have now located her. She is in a small cave complex very close to the mines the party was just at. Clan Lord Fifur Ironbane looks to the Grim Guard to rescue her, for if any can bring her home safely surely it is them. If they can capture Runus, the cowardly grass eating flower picker and bring him before the lord for justice, perfect. If all they can manage is his head, that is good as well.
Enroute, a war party of Cave Giants, a reminder that the Scab is a dangerous place.
- Reaching the caves, they are attacked by a solid army of undead that are defending the caves, but more specifically the undead are preventing anyone in the caves from leaving. Namely Runus, as the necromancers are not through with him yet. The party fights through seemingly endless hordes of undead gaining an ally in Flint, but losing a brother Terser. The decision to Reincarnate Terser with druidic magic has dire consequences in the confrontation that follows with Gargul himself. Most are struck lame, Sam the bard has his tongue turned to gold and is no longer able to speak. The group despairs and fractures. Runus is destroyed by non other than Tali Ironbane, now a Revenant abomination of undeath and pregnant as well. with heavy hearts and somber news, the Grim Guard return to Ironbane, his rage is great, but Terser the recently deceased calms him. The Guard are elevated to Honored of Ironbane and given a lords marker, residual magic of the 1st age.
- Now they have deciphered Runus' Book of Shadows and the rescue of Tahni and end of the necromancers is one step closer....

The group decided to not take his deal of “Let me go and I’ll spill the beans.” Currently detained by Redforge in RiddleForge tavern.
Captain Roger Redforge - captain of guard patrol that saved the RiddleForge Tavern from being overrun by Orc raiders. He asks party to find his Uncle, Rupert Redforge in RiddlePort and report the findings at the tavern.
Bael Stonesong - Gnomish Bard who was playing cards at table when the man he was across from got killed. Assumed he was wither the target of a botched assassination or attempted framing. Can become a PC at any time (one Gnome allowed).
Guy Baltar - Dwarven soldier under Redforge. Was de-armed in the Orc raid. Asks Tahni (Rob Christie) to find his love,Tina Colverdale, in Riddleport and give her a necklace. He is worried she will not love a crippled dwarf.
Scald - One of the most powerful Old Ones and lives within a large Hot Spring lake full of fountains that goes by the same name. Brutal to the extreme, his territory is growing as more and more of the water features of the area come under his control. He opposes Fhorge as often as he can causing a great tension between fire and water in The Scab.
Nermalkin - A Gnomish Scholar; believes that there is historical precedent that the Gods can and have imposed punishment upon M and E, similar as to how The Old Ones were imprisoned. He believes that these imprisonments led to the ONENESS that has occurred with both Fhorge, M, and E--that in fact the Old Ones as well as others of similar type slowly became like their prisons, and eventually actually became their prison, just as the land around the prisons have become one with the landform. He also argues that all three are clearly lesser beings when compared to the Gods, which raised interesting religious questions since all are now worshiped. He goes on to argue that many of the afflictions of the Southern Continent were supported by M and E raising the question as to why the Gods have not yet punished them in a similar fashion to The Old Ones. He further believes that these powers, which he believes are Elemental instead of Fae were not created by Eberyon, but existed before that time. Both the Elves and the Dwarves, think this is a load of donkey poop.
Jarnor - Master Swordsmith
Ashtrious - A Deamon that dwells at the entrance to the Underdark and is the location of the Stone Festival. A set of three nameless dwarves act as a conduit to summon a material form for Ashtrious
Geography
- The Scab a link to the culture and people of the Scab including Fhorge, a Dwarven history in the Scab and Geographic details
- The Scab is nearby the Culverwood and the Red Hills.
- In the southern foothills of the Scab is a Sanitarium: Up in the mountains, a mental asylum used to exist until recent years. Great evil was done there. Some former patients of this institution live with a druid/ranger nearby in the Valley of Four Peaks, a range visible from near Crescent Valley. He now treats the insane with nature, teaching them to feed and care for each other. The druid's name is Graeff. He comes to Humble's Ford on a regular basis to trade for medicine from an alchemist named Leyman.
The Scab in Detail
The Elderly dwarven woman speaks, "Alruc Brighthammer originally united the early colonizing clans of the Scab nearly 200 years ago. Before his efforts, Dwarves simply existed in reclusive family clans, but he called a great meeting of the 9 most powerful clans where an alliance was forged. I can only recall two at the moment: The most savage dwarves of the lands, Clan BloodAxe. And the Stonebeard clan, masons and crafters of the fabled Great Halls."
Then Baenor speaks up as he sheathes his stolen greatsword, "100 years later, greed spread rampant amongst the clans. The outward threats of giants, orcs, duergar, and other monstrous races combined with the Dwarven tendency to hole up in their mountains led to lack of communication. No communication amongst the clans led to mistrust. Mistrust led to war and infighting. Since then, many dwarven clans broke free from under the banner of one of the original 9 clans. They settled in RiddlePort... what was RiddlePort"
It is unknown how many dwarves survive in The Scab to date. The Five Sisters mountain range may just be a large grave for your race.
